Why RTMP?

RTMP stands for Real-Time Messaging Protocol and is used by many video platforms including Vimeo, Twitch, and Mixer to power their live streaming features. With eyeson now supporting RTMP streaming, you can use a great variety of portals for live streaming. Not being limited to a platform API makes live streaming with RTMP much more versatile. It also gives you so many more options to spread your message.

In particular with the gaming industry dealing with bandwidth issues, here is where eyeson comes into play. With our single-stream technology, we ensure that the bandwidth remains at 1,5 Mbit/sec regardless of the number of participants. That is one of the reasons that make this live streaming upgrade so unique. Live Streaming your eyeson video meeting will allow you to not only use minimum bandwidth, but also all of our other fun features such as animated GIFs. The benefits and use cases are endless but here are some ideas of what you can do with this new feature upgrade:

Live Streaming to Mixer using RTMP

Mixer, which used to be Beam until 2017, is Microsoft’s own video game live streaming platform. Mixer emphasizes a friendly community and interactive experience. The latter is enabled by the proprietary FTL (Faster Than Light) streaming protocol that allows for interaction between streamer and audience without perceivable delay. Special Goodie: eyeson allows you to throw in animated GIFs while lifestreaming your video games.

Live Streaming to Twitch using RTMP

Amazon subsidiary Twitch is the world’s leading live streaming platform for gamers. First introduced in June of 2011, Twitch.tv focuses on music broadcasts, esports competition broadcasts, creative content, and video game playthroughs. So whether you want to throw in your favorite GIF or use any of our other collaboration features, eyeson is the perfect tool for live streaming to Twitch. The interchanging co-streams with adjustable video layout for selective participant placement, as well as minimal bandwidth usage, are what will make your Twitch session with eyeson unique. We can’t wait to see how our users will make use of the new live streaming option for Twitch!

Live Streaming to Vimeo using RTMP

Now while Vimeo is pretty similar to YouTube, there are important differences. Ads are a key difference, as Vimeo proudly offers an ad-free experience. An important advantage of Vimeo is restricting access to videos to people that pay a certain fee to view them. Filmmakers, for example, like to use Vimeo for that reason. Vimeo is also renowned for its high video quality, a perfect match for eyeson HD video. Using eyeson’s unique presentation feature to broadcast your tutorials will also keep your videos from crashing and can save a lot of time.

Live Streaming to Facebook using RTMP

Facebook Live is a live video streaming feature on Facebook that allows you to broadcast a live event out to your audience through your company page or personal profile. The big advantage of using eyeson is that you can flexibly select your speakers on the podium. The selected speakers can be exchanged at any given time. That way you’ll be able to react to new situations during the broadcast. Live videos will show up in an individual’s news feed during the live event, as well as after the event has ended.

Live Streaming to Twitter using RTMP (via Periscope)

Twitter is where to see what’s happening in the world, from breaking news to major live events. You can easily create live videos, powered by Periscope, to share what’s happening live directly from the Twitter app on your phone. The services of Periscope are available in the mobile application itself as well as on Twitter. Users of Periscope are able to choose whether or not to make their video public or simply viewable to certain users such as their friends or families.

Live Streaming to Restream using RTMP

Restream is a powerful and effective multi-streaming platform. Instead of picking a single streaming platform, Restream lets you stream to any combination of more than 30 platforms it supports simultaneously. The start-up from Ukraine built a cloud server to let you stream to multiple video sites all at once, without the additional CPU and bandwidth overhead. Choose between platforms and social networks, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Mixer, LinkedIn and many more to broadcast your video meetings.
